Artist Statement
The context of my work is triggering or relatable, but the true meaning is hidden by all the other possibilities to the imagination of the viewer. The raw truth within is what inspires many of my works. Emotions, from experiences to trauma, is what creates the separation between each work individually while unified as a whole. Memories, relationships, and personal conflicts we cope with extreme measures, are specific ideals that influence my creations.
Color palettes are chosen based on each work individually as well as the intended reaction for the audience. Black and white has always been my preferred scheme yet I have grown past that timeless essence to utilize color tone as an emotional influence. Recently I have used organic, geometric, and nonrepresentational elements to warp the viewer’s perspective. This has become a theme over time subconsciously, similar to surrealism or illusions.
I see the surrounding influences as a spatial concept to submerge my art into reality for installations, videography, and sculptures made from metal, wood, or clay- including natural elements. I employ innovative, logical, and problem-solving style of thinking with critical/analytical processes to create art efficiently. Music is something that has helped me push deeper into the emotions of the art work I am creating, whether that is upon viewing or for influencing. Pushing emotions to overcome myself/audience based on the surroundings and my art synchronized with sounds or music striving for that want of a deeper connection.
